Botox for gummy smile
Gummy smile
A gummy smile occurs when the upper lip lifts too far above the teeth, exposing the upper gums and resulting in an unattractive smile.
This is due to several factors, but the main reason why this happens, and it is treatable with BOTOX or botulinum toxin type A, is when the muscle that elevates the upper lip is overactive. The gummy smile will be more intense if we have a thin upper lip, which will expose even more of the upper gum, so sometimes, increasing the volume of the upper lip improves these smiles.
To correct a gummy smile with Botox, we carry out micro-injections with small doses of BOTOX into the elevator muscle of the upper lip and nose. Unlike surgery and orthodontics, it is minimally invasive and requires no recovery time. Thanks to the application of Botox, we achieve a harmonization of the smile quickly and with immediate results, decreasing the function of the muscle and reducing the amount of gum that is shown when smiling.
