Marionette lines

Marionette lines are expression lines that are generated by multiple factors from the end of the nasolabial fold to the sides of the chin, mainly due to the loss of collagen and elastin production in the skin, the loss of bone support, muscle weakness, and the loss of facial fat compartments.

Fillers, including hyaluronic acid and calcium hydroxylapatite, as well as PDO threads in their different forms, are the treatments of choice for reducing this aesthetic defect.

Although treatment is sometimes performed directly on the furrows themselves, the ideal approach is to assess the patient’s facial anatomy and achieve an indirect treatment by addressing the cheekbones, chin, submalar area, etc., since in most cases, marionette lines are the result of a multifactorial failure. This approach achieves much more natural and satisfactory results.
